FAQS

Ask Me Anything

HOW LONG IS EACH APPOINTMENT?

Chinese medicine takes into account all systems of the body, so the interview during your first appointment will be extensive to get to the root of your main concern. For this reason, the first session will last approximately one and a half hours. Since the bulk of the interview is done in the first session, every follow-up session is an hour long.

DO THE NEEDLES HURT?

This is the most common question any acupuncturist receives! The needles are the size of a strand of hair. They are inserted using a tube that spreads the sensation over the skin and the insertion is QUICK and PAINLESS. Occasionally, you might feel a stronger sensation at some point versus others. In Chinese Medicine, this is what we call "de qi".

HOW MUCH DOES AN APPOINTMENT COST?

Each appointment is $90, regardless of whether it is an initial consult or a follow-up treatment. We accept all major credit cards, cash, checks, and HSA cards.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

All missed appointments (no call/no show) will be charged the full appointment fee of $90. Giving me advanced notice of a cancellation will allow me to offer the appointment to someone else who might need an appointment day-of, which is why I do not have a cancellation fee. If you have to change or cancel your appointment, please call the office at 207-985-0099 or email me at acuashmaine@gmail.com

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Acupuncture has a cumulative effect, therefore it normally takes multiple treatments to see a substantial change, although, it is not uncommon to see a change after one visit. It is different for every person. Someone with an acute condition will respond differently than someone with a chronic condition.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

At this time, I am not accepting insurance.

I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
